          37.   Describe how the separation of powers allows the branches of government to check and balance each other.

          38.   Describe how the system of federalism operates in the United States.

          39.   The U.S. government has been described as "a government of laws and not of people." Analyze this statement. Restate it in your own words, state whether or not you agree with it, and explain your position.

          40.   The Constitution is "the supreme law of the land." But our Constitution can also be described as "a general guide for laws." Explain why both of these are accurate descriptions of the Constitution.

          41.   What are the duties and responsibilities of citizenship?

          42.   Discuss the rights of a person accused of a crime and the constitutional amendments that expanded and protected these rights.

          43.   What constitutional amendments have extended the voting rights of U.S. citizens?
